Seedrs Valued at £50M After £6M Crowdfunding Campaign

Crowdfunding  website Seedrs has hit a valuation of £50 million after running its own crowdfunding campaign , raking in £6 million.

That follows a £4 million investment the company raised in September from Woodford Investment Management .

According to Seedrs, over 2000 of its users partook in the crowdfunding, with the most active investors hailing from the UK, Germany, Portugal, France and Italy.

The average invested amount was £3,200, while the largest individual investment was close to £800,000.

The company is now planning to use the fresh injection of cash to enhance its sales and marketing capabilities, and establishing new partnerships.

Seedrs also looks to improve its technology backend with more automation, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence tools.

Company CEO Jeff Kelisky commented on the campaign in a statement.  “It was highly important to us that we could open up as much as possible for our existing investor base, and this sum, combined with Woodford’s investment of £4m earlier this month takes us to £10m,” he said.

“This round is yet more evidence of the market’s conviction that Seedrs is on the right path to delivering shareholder value by opening venture capital opportunities to retail investors for fast growth companies – and without Seedrs having pioneered regulated equity investment, these opportunities would have remained closed to them,” he concluded.
